We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2nd edition of the Next Generation Water Polo Cup!
This tournament, hosted by Club Natació Sabadell, and with the support of Total Waterpolo as our Media & Data provider, promises to be a showcase of talent, determination, and sportsmanship.
The ’Stars of Tomorrow’ will take center stage from September 20th to 22nd, 2024, as emerging water polo talents from across Europe and the world come together to compete in what is likely one of the most high-level tournaments for the U19 category (born 2006) ever held, featuring elite clubs such as FTC-Telekom, CN Atlètic-Barceloneta or BVSC-Zugló.
Over the course of three action-packed days, more than 50 thrilling matches will be played, featuring the best youth water polo teams from Spain, Hungary, France, United Kingdom, Serbia, the United States, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa and Malta.
We're excited to announce that the action from all three days will be streamed live on BIWPA's YouTube channel, ensuring that you won't miss a single moment of the excitement. And thanks to Total Waterpolo, scores and statistics for every game will be recorded live.

THE VENUE
CLUB NATACIÓ SABADELL
Participants are staying in two different 4-star hotels conveniently located 15/20 minutes away from the competition site.
All three meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) will be offered at the hotel in a buffet format.

ACCESS TO THE POOL
Club Natació Sabadell (CNS) is a top sports club in Europe, known for its long history in water sports.
Especially in water polo, CNS is one of Europe's best clubs. Both their women's and men's teams compete with the top teams in the continent.
The club has hosted important swimming and water polo competitions, both internationally and locally. This includes events like the 2022 LEN Super Cup and the recent Women's Champions League Final 4.
The games will happen at the Olympic indoor pool, which is divided into two fields measuring 25 meters by 20 meters each.
HOTELS
Attendees, including players, staff, and spectators, are kindly requested to utilize the entrance situated on Sarajevo Street. Adhering to this designated route is of utmost significance as it ensures the smooth and orderly progression of the event.
For your convenience, the bar can be accessed through the entrance along Budapest Street. However, please note that this entrance is strictly off-limits for entering the main facility. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

The teams will be divided in 4 groups of 3 teams each (A, B, C & D), and they will compete on a Group Stage.
After the group stage is completed (Saturday at 13h), all the 1st-placed teams will go straight to the Quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the 2nd-placed and 3rd-placed teams will compete on a Play-In (1/8):
- 2nd of Group A vs 3rd of Group B
- 2nd of Group B vs 3rd of Group A
- 2nd of Group C vs 3rd of Group D
- 2nd of Group D vs 3rd of Group C
The winners of each match will compete on a Play-Off until reaching the Final.
COMPETITION FORMAT: WOMEN
The teams will be divided in 2 groups of 4 teams each (A & B), and they will compete on a Group Stage.
After the Group Stage is completed, 2 separate Play-Offs will take place:

- Semifinals:

- 1st of Group B vs 2nd of Group A
The loser teams of this two matches will compete for the 3rd and 4th place. Meanwhile, the winners of both matches will compete on the Final for the 1st and 2nd place.

The loser teams of these two matches will compete for the 7th and 8th place. Meanwhile, the winners of both matches will compete for the 5th and 6h place.

RULES
The Next Generation Water Polo Cup will follow the newest World Aquatics 2024 Rules with the following adaptations.
- Duration of games: Four periods of 7 minutes each, only stopping the clock normally in the last quarter.
- The three intervals between the four periods will last 1/2/1 minutes.
- Two officials per game: Two referees and two at the table (timekeeper/possession and Total Waterpolo secretary).
- In the event of a disciplinary action by any of the participants (red card, brutality, exclusion with substitution...), the Competition Commitee will decide if there's a ban involving the upcoming game(s).
- Time outs: One per team in each match.
- Rosters: Each team is permitted to register a maximum of 14 players for every game. The goalkeepers on the roster must wear red caps with number 1 and 13 or 1A.
POINTS & TIE BREAKERS
In the group stage, 3 points will be awarded per game won, 1 per game tied and 0 per game lost. In the event of a tie at the end of the of the group stage, this is the tiebreaker criteria:

You will see Jordi and Ferran every day at the entrance overseeing access to the competition site and village area. Additionally, they will be present at the shop eager to assist you with a variety of water polo gear.
Any questions about the competition format, scores, rules... He is the guy! Additionally, Eric will be responsible for applying disciplinary bans if necessary.
Contact him for any issues. Saül is the main responsible for all BIWPA tournaments.
Reach out to him regarding any matter about communications, social media, videos, photos... He will be also managing all the referees.
